The Friends of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (FoCAIC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to support avalanche forecasting and education throughout Colorado. They financially support the CAIC, safety programs, and education through fundraising that includes the Friends of CAIC Membership Program, grant writing, events, individual fundraising, corporate partnerships, and our annual spring fundraising campaign. Successful programs include free Know Before You Go awareness classes, technology investments such as the CAIC mobile app, avalanche safety PSA’s, and a partnership with the USFS to run trailhead outreach visits across the State of Colorado. FoCAIC has four full-time and one seasonal staff members that work remotely around Colorado. FoCAIC also has a small Board of Directors that guides the mission of the organization.
